Andrew Wyeth Passes
Andrew Wyeth's "Overflow"
I was very saddened to hear of Andrew Wyeth's passing. He was truly a great American Artist, and a rugged individualist who was much admired. My mother gave me a book that I treasured, it was Andrew Wyeth's "Helga". He will be deeply missed in the art world.
I am painting again and should be posting soon. It's been along time away, and I can't really say that I understand why I couldn't paint, must have been something like writers block only painters block. Anyway, it's good to be working again.

Tugger Bear
copywrite G. Caudill, 2007
This is a quick sketch of my 15 month old grandson, Nicholas, or who I affectionately refer to as "Tugger Bear". My children and my grandchildren are the light of my life, and this little guy is the newest light. This is my first attempt to get back to portraits. I will be posting more paintings done thru December presented as gifts.

I have been away from the blog for awhile now, but I hope to be posting again soon. I took a break thru December; I was having medical issues, and the doctor thought I might have cancer. So far so good. The biopsy was negative, but I will be checked again in March. Needless to say, it puts a whole new perspective on life. I guess I have been doing a lot of introspection, trying to decide what's really important; what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. I will still be doing the little still life's but my very first love was portraits. I love faces. And the lakes where I live. I see so much beauty in them. So this will probably be my direction this year, not for sure but just a goal. I enjoy seeing all the Daily Painters and how they are progressing. Each one of them is so unique I can tell each one of them now by their style. And I get so happy when I see that their paintings have sold, I bet they didn't know they had a cheering section! Hope to be posting again soon! Take care and thanks for stopping by.

Most mornings I’m up at 6:00, and find the still, quite time is the time that I love to paint. It’s almost like a meditation and is the time I give to myself to just be fully involved in painting. Some mornings before I get to the easel, I spend some time on the computer visiting different art sites and getting inspiration from other artists and seeing their styles of painting. During some of the quiet mornings I find some sites are so beautiful that it almost takes your breath away. One such artist is Manuel Nunez of the Just Looking Gallery. I found the site thru another favorite painter, William Wray. Sue Lyons and Scott Burdick also have one of these beautiful sites, and thru their links I found German Town Gallery, and most all the artist there are a feast for the eyes also. Another one that I love is the realism painting of Niel and Karen Hollingsworth. Also Jeffrey Watts portraiture is stunning. All of these sites are worth checking out.
